The art on the walls in the restrooms are never boring and speak volumes.  Like an Urban Alley Museum.

At this store I see they are having issues making people clean up their dishes after lunch.  I wonder who put his sign up, must be our hall monitor J_ _

Girls Night Out

2010

Here at Onze, we know how to have fun. Proof is, we have fun when we work!

We took fun to further heights last week, as the staff teamed up to play… bowling!

Motivated as always, the Onze team went out to famous Sharx to reunite and play the most credible and serious “sport” ever: bowling. It just felt so good to finally meet everyone and see our old friends from the other stores (we speak on the phone a lot, but don’t see each other often enough). Even Jerry, our dear boss, joined us later in the night.

Prints, Prints, Prints! From Runway to Reality

30
May
2010

Ladies and gents… I would like to formally introduce myself to the beautifully brand new Boutique Onze blog…

My name is Robyn.  I am a blogger.  I love pugs, pigs, bulldogs (pretty much anything with a punched-in nose that snorts), 514 livin’, life’s simple pleasures, travelling, creating, writing, and using my imagination to stumble further and further into becoming me.  I am both a Makeup Junkie as well as a fashion lover!  But enough about me… lets get on with the show shall we?

For those of you who may already know a bit about me, I love big and bold graphic prints.  Needless to say, I was  thrilled to see prints from all ends of the spectrum all over the international runway for Spring/Summer 2010.

Splashes of color, kaleidoscope stripes and a variation of computer generated graphics were all spotted in collections of the late and great Alexander McQueen, dream team Proenza Schouler, youthful Versace and elegantly tribal Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci.

Alexander McQueen brought an alien approach to romanticism, using space-age inspired digital prints to recreate floral visions and reptilian replica’s…

While Proenza Schouler focused on multi-colored faux animal prints and tie dye effects.

Versace brought some kick-ass feminine edge via prints reminiscent of vintage Hermes scarves and mixed them in with polka dot accents and bold color blocks…

… and Givenchy embraced exotic natural lines found in nature through incredible earth-toned tribal motifs, fully embracing the jagged edge of the zig zag!

Love the looks but out of the budget?  I’ve found a few Onze faves that will make the runway looks you love a reality :) .

The Miss Shapes Dress (left) will lend you the Versace visuals while the Bright Like Neon Love Dress (right) shares notes of floral fantasy with McQueen’s creations.

Love a more subtle approach to the prints?  The Fashionista in Peacock Dress (left) mimics Givenchy’s textures found in nature while the Confetti Cake Dress brings out the spotted frenzy Donatella does so well…

Now if only I could figure out what came first – the chicken or the egg?

Were the Onze pieces runway inspired or have the international design masters been taking cues from Onze’s online shop…

… something to ponder…

New dress from BBDakota!

2010

We just got this amazing purple flower-patterned dress! Isn’t it gorgeous? Don’t you see yourself in it for anytime of the day in summer?

During a sunny day, wear cute flats or sandales to go walk around the Beaver Lake and have a picnic on its grass with a chapeau de paille.

Windy or rainy day? It’s a bubble dress, so no need to worry! BbDakota dress thought of it all. Add a grey cardigan and a white scarf if you are too cold. As for shoes, little vintage city shoes or keds sneakers will do ;)

You can even wear it to go out at night, as the colours are not as bright. Add accessories (necklaces, bracelets, headband) and black varnish heels or pumps will do. Don’t feel like bringing a bag or clutch? It has pockets!!

Wear it and send us your ways of wearing it!
