You probably know TOHU as a place to see circus shows. But did you know that TOHU also serves as Maison de la culture for the St-Michel district? Thus, TOHU’s mission also includes hosting free cultural events. This month, see AfrikÉcoArt, an exhibition of recycled art that deals with overconsumption.

The 29th International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) began Thursday in Montreal. For nearly three decades, the festival has featured documentaries on subjects as diverse as: movies, music, graffiti, dance, literature, architecture and comics. The art of FIFA is not elitist, it is unifying. Until March 27, 227 films from 22 countries will be presented in nine venues in Montreal. Here is my selection of 10 movies not to be missed.
Imprudanses is an improv-movement league. 30 dancers are divided into five teams and compete in contemporary dance through Improv matches. Intrigued?
The Montreal Nuit Blanche will take place this Saturday February 26 starting at 8 p.m. 175 activities, free for the most part, await you. Performances, exhibitions and shows will take place in three districts of the city: the Old Part, Downtown and Plateau Mont-Royal. A free shuttle service will connect Festival fans to all activity sites and the metro will remain open all night long.
The Montreal Opera presents Werther until February 3rd. Fashion designer Sabrina Barila created the costumes for the show. I was lucky enough to attend the premiere last Saturday.

One of the things I love about Montreal, is that we don’t just sit there and suffer from the cold, we find ways to enjoy winter. Proof: Igloofest, the hottest outdoor party of the cold season.

Atomic Café is a temple of retro kitsch style. If you love Boutique Onze’s vintage inspired clothes, you’ll enjoy this café’s decor. Located on Ontario street, Atomic Café shares its space with Le Septième, a videoclub. I met with Martin, one of the owner of Atomic Café, for a little chat.
